She is proceeded in death by the grandparents who raised her, Helen & Clarence Dickinson of Bellevue, WA; her mother, Shirley Nettles of Washington; her most beloved husband, John Zwolinski of Granger, IN; and her son, Jesse Mayer of Sterling, VA.
Vickie was born on January 14th, 1947, in Bellingham, WA. She met the man that would become her husband in high school, and they married in 1974. Vickie and John had a happy 46 years together, and he was her rock. She loved puzzles, coloring books, soap operas, and playing cards with friends and she was a member of the local Women’s Welcome Group for 16 years. Vickie loved caring for her garden and watching the birds at the feeders outside her windows. She had many passions throughout the years, including antiquing and animals. She owned an antique store in Leesburg, VA and had several championship Bullmastiffs and Boxers that she’d bred and raised. Her daughter, Marsha, was quoted saying, “She has more photos of those damn dogs than her kids.” Last, but not least, she loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Vickie will be dearly missed by everyone that knew her. She was a kind and generous soul that made friends everywhere she went. Our hearts our broken and our lives won’t be quite the same without her, but we know she’s in Heaven with John and one day we’ll join her. She will be cremated and her remains will be laid to rest in Naugatuck, CT, with John.
There will be a celebration of life at her family home in Granger, IN, on Saturday, May 7th, 2022, with an open house from 12PM to 3PM. Please join us in her remembrance by RSVP’ing with her daughter, Marsha, at (574) 271-9199.
