December 13, 1952 – May 9, 2017
Philip D. Weldy, “Mr Weldy,” was taken up by the Lord in the blink of an eye on May 9, 2017. He was in his home with family near his side.
Mr. Weldy was born December 13, 1952 to the late L. Harold and Dorothy (Crofoot) Weldy. A son, Benjamin D. Weldy, also preceded him in death.
On July 16, 1971, Philip married the love of his life, Sherry Lee Melton, who he met through church. She survives. They were blessed with four children, Philip M. Weldy of Granger, the late Benjamin, Sara (Tad) Swoape of Elkhart and Allie P. Weldy of Granger. Also left to cherish his memory are five grandchildren, Angel D. Shoffner, Philip D. Andrew Weldy III, Tad “TJ” Swoape, Jr., Bentley A. Swoape, and Bryce Benjamin Christian Weldy; one brother, Ross A. (Linda) Weldy; and one sister, Joan (Thomas) Johnson.
Mr. Weldy was a hard worker from a very young age. He worked at Texas Instruments in his early twenties and later joined IBEW #153, where he worked as a journeyman for twenty years. While he was as an electrician by trade, he was skilled in everything he did. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and servant of Jesus Christ. He was an ordained Apostolic Minister at the Apostolic House of Deliverance for 25 years. While his parting leaves a void in the hearts of many, his family is relieved he is no longer in pain and now with his Lord and Savior.
Visitation will be held Monday, May 15th, from 5-7 p.m. at the McGann Hay, Granger Chapel, 13260 SR 23, enter off Cherry Rd. The family will hold a private funeral on Tuesday.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Apostolic House of Deliverance.
