John W. Darkwood

                                   February 28, 1937 – August 1, 2017

GRANGER-John W. Darkwood, 80, passed away unexpectedly August 1, 2017. He was born in Warsaw, IN on February 28, 1937. His parents, Albert and Ethel (Schruder) Darkwood; brother-in-law, Jeff Randolph, and a niece, Jasey Lane Randolph, preceded him in death.

On June 27, 2014, John married his best friend and love of his life of more than 30 years, Gordon Randolph. He survives. Also left to cherish his memory are two brother-in-laws, Victor (Esther) Kudyba of Springfield, KY and Danny (Robbie) Randolph of Crown Point, IN; sister-in-law, Velina (Bill) Hartmann of Santa Rosa Beach, FL; nieces and nephews, Ryan Hartmann, Emily (Cody) Taylor, Jennifer (Adam) Fedak, Jessica Randolph, Carmela Kudyba, Rebecca (Ross) Ciesla, Katie (Peter) Marone, and JR Randolph; his beloved, sweet dog Maisie; and many wonderful friends.

John worked at CTS Corporation in Elkhart for over 60 years, vowing to never retire. He was knowledgeable and passionate about antiques, and collected many beautiful pieces.  He kept an impeccable garden and yard, and his house was always spotless. He was gentle, jovial, kind; and always enjoyed throwing a big party. His sudden passing leaves a void in the hearts of many. He is now with the angels cleaning Heaven.

John’s wishes were to be cremated and laid to rest by his parents, where there will be a private graveside service. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Memorial donations may be made, in his name, to Pet Refuge or the Center for Hospice Care.
