Jerry Whiteford

               January 11, 1963 – March 26, 2017

Mishawaka- Gerald J. “Jerry” Whiteford, Jr. 54, passed away peacefully March 26, 2017, with his family by his side. He fought a long and courageous battle with colon cancer.
Jerry was born in Oak Lawn, Illinois on January 11, 1963 to the late Gerald J. Sr. and Bernice Mary (Yacko) Whiteford.
After high school, Jerry attended Drake University, where he met the love of his life, Francine Elizabeth Ferraro. They were married August 9, 1986. She survives him. To their union, they were blessed with two children, Sydney and Sophie Whiteford, both of Granger. Also left to cherish his memory are three sisters, Sharon Whiteford of Tucson, AZ, Susan (Dennis) Capretz of Eureka, IL, and Sandra (Louie) Ciaccio of Homer Glen, IL; and one aunt, Esther Rinck of Palos Heights, IL.
Jerry received his Bachelor’s degree in accounting from Drake University in 1985, received his CPA, and started his career as a public accountant at Deloitte and Touche, LLP (formerly Deloitte, Haskins and Sells.) He moved to Indiana and worked at Coopers and Lybrand, then spent the majority of his career at NIBCO, Inc. where he ended as CFO. He finished his career as the CFO at Group Dekko.
Aside from being a hard worker and great provider, he was most importantly a wonderful and devoted husband and father. He collected guitars, was a dedicated White Sox fan, and was always riding in style either in a new vehicle or on his motorcycle. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 31 from 4-7 p.m. at the McGann Hay, Granger Chapel, 13260 SR 23, enter off Cherry Rd. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 10:30 a.m., with visitation from 10:00 to 10:30 a.m. at St. Pius X Catholic Church. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park.
The family would like to thank the wonderful Nurses and Doctors at Michiana Hematology Oncology for their compassionate care.
