Floyd R. Benninghoff, 102, passed away peacefully into the arms of Jesus on November 5, 2016.
He was born June 12, 1914 to George Clement and Mary Josephine (Allen) Benninghoff in Hamlet, Indiana.
Left to cherish his memory are two children, Ronald (Virginia) Benninghoff of Newton, KS, and Lynn (Robert) Kline of South Bend; 5 grandchildren, Lisa (William) Kemph, Daniel (Janelle) Benninghoff, Joel (Kimberly) Benninghoff, Terry Kline, and Jeffery (Linda) Kline; and one step-grandson, Cory Enghram. He also has 16 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great- grandchildren.
He was a Jewel Tea salesman in the South Bend area for many years. He retired from Sears in Elkhart, where he sold appliances.
He loved to play his guitar and sing. He played in several bands over the years. He wrote many Christian songs after he gave his heart to Jesus. He painted beautiful pictures and wrote several poems. He had a wonderful sense of humor. He will be dearly missed by all who called him dad, grandpa, and friend. We would like to thank the Southfield family for the wonderful care they gave him; and also to Dr. Douglas David, who lovingly cared for his health.
Visitation will be held Friday, November 11, from 4-7PM at the McGann Hay, University Chapel, 2313 E. Edison Rd. South Bend. Funeral services will be Saturday at 11AM at Christ Chapel, 3402 Locust Rd., South Bend, IN 46614, with visitation one hour prior. His nephew, Rev. Charles Benninghoff will be officiating. Burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Feeding The Nations Warehouse Fund of Christ Chapel.
