On June 14, 1958, Eleanor married the love of her life, Joseph Dedek, with whom she shared 59 years. He survives in South Bend. To their union, they were blessed with four children: JoEllyn Kaye “Jody” (Jon) Arrowsmith of Granger, IN; Jane Ann (Samuel) Wachnin of Austin, TX; Jon Joseph Dedek of Santa Clara, CA and Katharine Sue (Richard Carlton) Dedek of Captain Cook, HI. Eleanor was a very kind and loving person with a strong faith in her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She taught music and first grade in the Brandywine schools in Niles, MI. She then devoted her life to raising her children, substituting occasionally. Eleanor taught kindergarten at Warren School in South Bend, IN after her children were grown. She was a talented seamstress who sewed her children’s clothes when they were young; and she was a wonderful cook. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her, and the grace she carried until the end will always be admired by her family.
A Memorial Service honoring Eleanor’s life will be held at a later date.
