Anna L. Lazzara

January 6, 1935 – May 10, 2017

Anna Lillian Lazzara, 82, was born into eternal life peacefully Wednesday at 11:04am at The Hearth at Juday Creek with her loving daughter and granddaughter by her side. She is now wrapped in the arms of Jesus along with her loving husband Salvatore, her parents, her dear brother John Galasso and many other loved ones and friends. A celebratory embrace most certainly took place upon her joyous arrival.
Anna was born into this life in Elkhart on January 6, 1935 to the late Anthony and Frances (Balatore) Galasso. On May 8, 1954 she married the love of her life Salvatore Lazzara who passed away on October 5, 2010 after 56 years of marriage. She was a Paraprofessional at John Adams and Washington high schools where she loved working with the children especially those that were considered “problem students.”
An avid golfer, Anna was the First Flight Club Champion the first two years when Knollwood Country Club first opened, where she was a member for many years. She was also a long time parishioner at St. Pius X Catholic Church. She was a beautiful, compassionate, fun loving, storyteller who was a loving mother to her daughter Janet “Jan” Lazzara; grandmother to Brian C. (Dustin Coleman) Nordan of Ft. Wayne and Angela M. (Steven Jimenez) Jasinski and a great-grandmother to nine month old Gianna, all of Granger. Also left to cherish her memory are three sisters: Joan (Bill) Spencer of Edwardsburg, Bernice (Emil) Docey of Palm Bay, FL and Norma (Bill) Wisser of Granger and a sister-in-law Lorraine Galasso of Mishawaka.
She loved spending time with her family and enjoyed cooking the most amazing Italian Sunday dinners for them. She was a joy to be around and will be greatly missed. She loved Elvis Presley music, which will play in the background at her visitation.
